Some thoughts.
This post seems to be full of ideas. Thats fine and fair enough but the easiest part of game development is the idea part. The "making it work" is the total pregnant dog, which is why so few games have coop or have those "cool" features that were promised in the design phase (see Fable for an example). Also that "co-op title" he/she/it talks about, unless the story is based around a duo or a 2 person team (ala Gears of war, ok it was 4 person but you get the point) then it most probably wont ever be done.
"The industry has come a long way in just a few years" errr No it hasnt. In my opinion it may seen like it has but in fact were in the same place we were 5 years ago in terms of how much cooperative play there is in games. I'm forever seeing posts about how Call of duty (take your pick on which one), S.T.A.L.K.E.R., etc would be cool in coop. It may be progressing but saying that its come a LONG WAY it a bit much.
