I think you kinda gather the score with the site, so I won't make excuses...its nutse I've been thinking about re-invention but as if I could come up with anything better than a crummy forum it'll be just another pile of nutse, as always don't hold your breath. I've no intention of dropping this forum BTW. No one cares either way I know. Anyway, I'm interested into what people are playing at the moment. I haven't really played any of the new co-ops until I got Left 4 Dead the other day. I must say apart from being a little too linear it's what I've been waiting for. I think they've done a great job at putting co-op on the commercial map. What other games have people been playing in the last 6months or so. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 any good?

Good to hear about the forum retention I didn't like Vegas 2 much at all, hard to explain why - it kinda felt like a cheap console port to me. Which is funny, because I did enjoy the original. I've been a little busy lately, but I'm planning on picking up the new Call of Duty World at War (co-op, finally!) and of course Left 4 Dead ... well, as soon as I get a chance. I'm also still really looking forward to Saints Row 2 on PC, I've always wanted to play a sandbox game like that cooperatively and it seems I will finally get my wish. In passing I heard that the RPG Dragon Age isn't going to have multiplayer as they are putting all their efforts into creating a solid single player experience - which is a major bummer cause I loved the Baldurs Gate series co-op.

I've been playing through the new call of duty on coop. that was amazing. The nazi zombies stuff is great when you finish the campaign. Left 4 dead does'nt have offline lan coop. so I'm passing on that until a fix is available

I think I'll wait for Vegas 2 to be the right price, I really enjoyed the original and still go back to it from time to time however I must admit I was put of buying the sequal when they cut the campaign down to 2 players, though I understand Terrorist hunts are still 4 player co-op.
Gald to hear you like COD:WOW it's quiet high on my list as it's about time we had a game like that.
I must admit I'm a little out of touch at the moment, I only heard a couple of days ago there's not going to be a Gears of War 2 for the PC!!! Shocked, the original was one of the best co-op experiences I'd had for a long time.

I think they will release it for pc eventually. It could just be a marketing trick. they said the same thing about gta4 did'nt they? I was sad that the new brothers in arms did'nt have coop though. That would have been cool.

We have been playing IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 v4.08 coop on weekly basis for about 5 months now. It includes a total of 84 coop missions. It has been great fun. It's a pity that so few flight sims have coop gamemode. We are about to quit playing it in few weeks, but for now we are still doing better scores for some missions: personal.inet.fi/clan/hgs/IL2-1946/index.htmlTwo questions other players often ask are 1) Why you only play coop? 2) Why you usually play very old or few years old coop games? The first one I probably don't have to explain here, cause you all like coop like me. For the second one there are several reasons for me: -old games are cheaper, so I may buy some for my coop friends too -old games have less cheaters online -old games have higher % of mature players online -old games can be run with every graphical setting in maximum and even see the game to look better game designers ever saw it on their best computers -old games have had their last patch released so you know that nothing more will be added and most of the issues are fixed or at least documented I guess this habit of mine started after I played Ghost Recon and it was still new. I hated it when they released new patch and all my game replays of the successful missions became incompatible and could not be watched. They also changed difficulty settings so much that we had to play everything again to keep results comparable. I mean completing some mission with patch V1.2-V1.3 was so much easier than with V1.4 where they increased AI armor and made some other changes that made the game considerably harder. Next month or so 5-6 of us will start to play SWAT4 Gold Edition coop and try to complete all of its missions with hard difficulty level. By reading this forum. I should expect it to be challenging and fun.

I used to play IL2 quiet a bit but never got 1946 and I'm slightly relunctant to buy it cause it has all the other addons I have already, though it's getting quiet cheap now.
SWAT 4 is great, far more intense than Rainbow Six Vegas if you've played it. Just planning a room entry, executing it and seeing your plan fall to pieces as things don't go to plan, amazing. Some of the later levels are very big and tough and you do need almost a full team on higher difficulties.
Regarding your two questions 1) Why you only play coop? 2) Why you usually play very old or few years old coop games?
My response would be 1) Cause I enjoy the achievement rather than the win. 2) I think old co-op games stand well because co-op is so replayable. You can forgive old graphics cause your getting the co-op experience. I think competitive games have to move with the times cause you need to play where the community is playing, with co-op you only need 2 players at least and sometimes most.

There has always been bad advertising about IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 and what it really contains. It contains: IL-2 Forgotten Battles IL-2 Ace's Epansion Pack Pacific Fighters Sturmoviks Over Manchuria Pe-2 Pescha 1946 Anyone saying it contains IL-2 Sturmovik (the original) is wrong - it does not. Also everyone thinking 1946 is just a name for the packet are wrong also since it adds more missions that are not available elsewhere. Also patches 4.07, 4.08 and 4.09 beta are for 1946 install only. Some of them also include more missions. Yes it is cheap as Exclusive series re-release and it includes 2 DVDs the second one containing videomaterial. --- Good points, thecoopyears. Some day I will write an essay titled 'why coop' and put it online. For me coop represents something against the competitive spirit of this world. There is too much competition in this world already and too much humans turning against each other. That is why I like coop so much. Real coop for me is everything where humans are on the other side and computer AI on the other side. As an opponent the best thing about computer AI is that it is much more patient than human player. It can camp and wait forever just for you and it never says I have to go now. --- SWAT4 Gold, I don't really know yet what to expect for it. Haven't played Rainbow Six series since Rainbow Six 3 Raven Shield. Hope I can expect it to be better than that. The thing I would like to know most however is that as I know maximum players for SWAT4 the original is 5 players and for the expansion it is 10 players. Would it be possible to play original missions through expansion and this way have to be able to use 10 players maximum.,,

When creating the co-op years I wrote loads, one observation I came up with regarding co-op and competitive play:
-You can't really boast about beating the computer in the same league you can in a competitive game, cause the computer doesn't care either way. You can only really appreciate your achievement.
I always thought that that is a blocker to some types of people.
It would be interesting to make a comparison between co-op players and what sports they support and to what degree. Personally I have little time for sports really, music is my thing.
